Markedroid EMS supports a couple of useful accessories for controlling surplus solar power at homes, and to take maximum use of cheap grid electricity prices.

Currently supported accessories and their functions are:

  • Shelly Pro 2 smart DIN-relay for controlling heatpumps and other heating devices supporting SG Ready standard. Many new home heating device manufacturers have incorporated this standard into their products. More information about the SG Ready protocol can be found on the gridX page.
  • Shelly S Gen 3 and Shelly Plus Plug S (V1 & V2) smart plugs for controlling loads, such as pool heaters, garden irrigation systems, etc. Basically any device using a standard 230V socket and drawing below 2500 watts.
  • Shelly sunplug. What it is and how to connect it.

Heatpump

In the SG Ready standard, heat pump modes are controlled via two digital binary inputs on the controller that receive signals from Markedroid EMS through the Shelly device. These four possible input combinations determine whether the unit is forced off, operates in normal energy-efficient mode, or ramps up to store thermal energy as a "thermal battery."

These are the four heat pump modes and their corresponding inputs:
